Our Cover Design features the Coat of Arms of The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries. On the coat of arms is a figure of Apollo, his head radiant, holding in his left hand a bow, and in his right, an arrow, apparently to supplant a serpent. A rhinoceros appears on wreath above, and two unicorns support the arms. The motto reads: ”Throughout the world I am called the bringer of aid.”
William Camden, Clarenceux King of Arms, granted the coat of arms to the society on December 12,1617. The livery of over 1,000 is almost entirely composed of medical professionals. Among well-known members over the years were Humphrey Davy, inventor of the safety lamp, Oliver Goldsmith, Oliver Cromwell, and John Keats.
